1) Marshmallow Moisturizer

- This lotion is helpful for keeping your skin moisturize and soft. It also helps soothe minor irritations.

- Take 3 tablespoons of dried marshmallow root or leaves in a bowl.

- Add a cup of clean water.

- Leave it to infuse overnight, and then strain.

- Apply it on your skin morning and evening after normal cleansing.

- If you want you can also add this lotion to your cold cream for better results.


2) Spring Tonic Syrup

- It helps combats fatigue and refreshes and renews the system.

- Put 2 tablespoons chopped nettle + 2 tablespoons dandelion leaves + 2 tablespoons yarrow leaves in a mortar and pulp with the pestle to form a smooth paste.

- Add a cup of honey and blend thoroughly.

- Store in an airtight jar.

- Take one to two teaspoonfuls first thing each morning and last thing at night.



3) Lady's Mantle Eye Pads

- An excellent remedy to soothe and revitalize tired, inflamed, puffy or watery eyes.

- Take a bowl and put 1½ tablespoons dried lady's mantle + 11/2 tablespoons grounded dried fennel leaves.

- Add ½ cup of boiling water.

- Leave to infuse for at least 10 minutes.

- Strain and use while still warm: thoroughly soak 2 cotton pads, or 2 or 3pieces of lint layered together, in the infusion, and place them on the eyes for at least 10 minutes.

- Gently dab the eyes with cold water.


4) Parsley and Primrose Skin Lotion

- Good for skin whitening and helps fade the freckles.

- Soak 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley in to a cup of cold water overnight.

- Put a cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of primrose flowers.

- Mix it with the strained parsley infusion.

- Use this resultant mixture on your skin on morning and evening, and leave it to dry on the skin.


5) Peppermint Facial Steam

- Helpful in improving circulation and reducing large pores.

- Add 2 tablespoons of chopped peppermint+ 2 tablespoons of sage + ½ teaspoon basil to 7½ cups of boiling water.

- After cleansing your face, hold your face about a foot away from the water and cover your head with a large towel.

- Steam up to 10 minutes.


6) Sage and Sweet Violet Cream

- Effective in the treatment of cold sores and soothes and protects swollen, painful or chapped lips.

- Take a small stoppered jar.

- Put 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh sage + 2 tablespoons sweet violet leaves + 4 tablespoons of almond oil.

- Seal and leave in a warm place for about a month.

- Shake the jar on daily basis.

- After 1 month strain it into a bowl and add 4 tablespoons each of almond oil and beeswax which have been melted together.

- Beat to mix until cold.

- Apply twice a day.


7) Horsetail Infusion

- Best herbal remedy for brittle nails.

- Take a saucepan.

- Pour 2½ cups of water over 6 tablespoons of dried horsetail stems.

- Leave to infuse for about 4 hours and then bring to the boil.

- Leave to simmer gently for about 30 minutes, remove from the heat and leave for another 30 minutes before straining into a stoppered jar or bottle.

- Every other day, soak the nails in warm sunflower oil for 15 minutes and then in a little warmed horsetail infusion for the same time.


8) Lovage Footbath

- Good remedy for tired and sore feet.

- Put 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh lovage in to 2¼ cups of boiling water.

- Leave to infuse for 15 minutes, then strain.

- Add 1 tablespoon of sea salt and stir to dissolve.

- Soak the feet for up to 10 minutes.


9) Rosemary or Chamomile Hair Rinse

- For soft and healthy hair also helps remove dandruff and promotes hair growth.

- For dark hair - place 2 heaped tablespoons of chopped fresh rosemary and 1 tablespoon of dried chamomile flowers in a bowl.

- For blonde hair- swap the quantities of rosemary and chamomile. Mix with 2 heaped tablespoons of dried lime flowers and cover with 3½ cups of boiling water. Leave to infuse until tepid. Strain the solution and apply it after all shampoo has been rinsed from the hair.


10) Coltsfoot and Fennel Face Pack

- For great skin tone and also help to close pores and minimize wrinkles.

- Beneficial in the treatment of acne.

- Add 2 tablespoons of dried coltsfoot leaves + 1 tablespoon of dried fennel leaves in to ½ cup of boiling water.

- Infuse for 10 minutes and strain.

- Add ½ cup of yogurt and enough fine oatmeal to make a thick paste.

- Wash the face, finishing with a hot cloth. Cover the eyes with wet cotton pads, and spread warm paste over the face.

- Leave for 10 minutes then wash off with warm water and a little lemon juice.
